We all arrived...

The study tour to Poland has got off to a flying start.

All fourteen students participating have arrived safely and got the first glimpse of how Poles celebrate their national holiday – The Constitution Day. This is one of the most patriotic holidays, which commemorates the ratification on May 3, 1791, of the first democratic constitution in Europe, and second in the world (after the United States of 1787).

English text of the constitution is here: http://libr.sejm.gov.pl/tek01/txt/kpol/e1791.html

The purpose of our tour is to make practical connection to cultural, economic and political contexts in understanding the “big picture” of forces of change that media and technology sectors are exposed to.

Even before the class had the chance to participate in lectures, during a casual walk through the Old Town and the Main Square we could see marching band parade, street performance of patriotic songs and traditional dance troupe. Poles are proud of this historical achievement and show it by crowding streets and cafés.

Tomorrow the official study tour program starts – first we dive to understand Polish history and its role within the European Union.
